We are first time homebuyers very new to the real estate market and to the policies and decisions involved in the process of purchasing. Our first concern in hiring an agent was whether or not we would feel a certain pressure to buy. We were especially concerned that this might be the case if we took our time and viewed many houses (we did), got excited about the possibilities of each one (we often did) and yet might decide that just wasn't the right one (we did at least 20 times). Federick was not concerned about this at all. We could tell he viewed his job as being to introduce us to as many houses as possible until we found the one we wanted.
Federick has been working as a real estate agent in Ottawa for more than 20 years, and this served us well when we viewed potential homes with him. In each place he took out a flashlight, looked around in the basements and up at ceilings and gave us suggestions and clues about what to watch out for. For example, how to spot evidence of past water damage. We sometimes felt that having him was like having our very own house inspector; he constantly alert us to the potential problems he thought he could see so that we would know what we might be getting into before we made an offer. This impressed us because it meant that he would have to keep looking with us, yet he never seemed to view this as a problem or a burden.
Another wonderful thing about working with Federick was his availability and his flexibility. We truly felt that we were put at the forefront of his work time. Whenever we called his phone, he picked up promptly. Whenever we changed our ideas about locations, neighbourhoods, or listings, he immediately e-mailed us the newest ones. He arranged viewings for us always at our earliest convenience. And when we finally found the house that was right for us, he made the transaction smoother than we could have hoped for. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Federick as a wonderfully knowledgeable and professional agent to work with. We are very happy with the way he treated us as clients, We think that anyone who uses his services will be impressed with his knowledge and work ethic.
